Course Overview

This course is approved by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) and has been designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum.

It describes a wide range of services including pre and post
incident crisis intervention, on-scene support services, individual support, small group meetings (defusing and debriefing), interventions after large scale traumatic events (demobilisations and crisis management briefings), significant other support, follow-up and referral.

In addition to the above, the research evidence for Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) is provided. There is also a description of the providers of CISM services (including peer support) and the way they work together. This course is endorsed by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.

This course specifically prepares participants to provide several interventions including defusing, debriefing, demobilisations and crisis management briefings. The
workshop includes demonstrations and skills practice sessions.

The workshop investment is inclusive of the workshop presentation, ICISF text book and a Certificate of Attendance issued by the Critical Incident Stress Management Foundation (Australia) Inc.
