PRIMEXL is an accredited Critical Incident Stress Management Foundation of Australia (CISMFA) trainer in the Critical Incident Stress Management workshop and has facilitated customised ‘train the trainer’ sessions for a range of organisations within the mining and resources sector.
A critical incident (CI) refers to a challenging event that has the potential to create significant human distress and overwhelm an individual’s usual coping mechanisms. Psychological distress or psychological crisis, in response to critical incidents such as emergencies, disasters or traumatic events may create significant impairment in 40 – 50 % of those exposed.
Having adequately trained onsite response is an essential component of every risk and safety management plan to:
- reduce further injury
- mimimise impact on productivity
- facilitate return to work
Approved by the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF), this workshop is designed to present the core elements of a comprehensive, systematic and multi-component crisis intervention curriculum. It describes a wide range of services including pre and post incident crisis intervention, on-scene support services, individual support, small group meetings (defusing and debriefing), interventions after large scale traumatic events (demobilisations and crisis management briefings), significant other support, follow-up and referral.
